One of the reasons I started blogging was for a creative outlet and to learn how to do one. It’s just one of the few things centered around technology that grabbed my interest when I entered my 50’s. I’ve set a lot of goals, and I think I’ve done a decent job with them. I created a blog, I learned how to edit and post videos, I learned how to create graphics on Canva, and I know how to set up a virtual meeting. I also learned how to create a PowerPoint and utilize more features in email and calendar. And something I’m kind of proud of is that I figured out how to download Windows 11 while my hubby and his friend thought it would be much more complicated than it was. Obviously, I’m an amateur, as you can see by the looks of this blog. But I’m okay with that for now.
A couple of years ago, my kids and my hubby got me a Sony ZV1F camera for Christmas and I was ecstatic. It’s a starter vlogging camera but has some great features for what it although it’s not cheap by any means (around $400) for a camera newbie. First thing I did was order a new tripod. I proceeded to learn the bare minimum to record so I could start posting videos, but it wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be.
First, the battery life on this camera is way different than my phone’s. It also took a lot, and I mean a lot more time to upload to my computer. I went on using it about 50% if the time, but it was always hard. Then my cheap tripod broke and I quietly didn’t replace it and stopped using it. I was just tired, impatient, lazy to learn and overwhelmed. But now, two years later, I find myself not able to make the type of videos I really want to.
Here’s why it’s time to start using my new camera:
- The area in the shot will cover the counter like I need it to.
- The video will look much more crisp and clear.
- I can start using filters if I want without making the video take so much longer to transfer because it’s already built into the filming instead of being added afterward
- I can learn how to take nice pictures too
- I can add it to my list stuff I’ve learned to do in my 50’s.
- I can take it with me on vacations and outings to catch beautiful shot-worthy moments.
- It won’t exhaust my battery because I’m taking too many pics or video with it.
- I can show my family that I truly did appreciate and want the gift they gave me.
- I can have demo videos that don’t distort my body, and make things look weird.
So, I’ve decided after all this time, two years, I’m ready to master my camera. And I mean really get it and not look everything up every time. My favorite reasons are #’s 5 and 8:) I started with getting a good glass protector and camara shell protection. Next, I have to purchase a new tripod and memory card reader. In about two weeks, I can get a new tripod and memory card reader and then I’ll be on my way. I’m very excited!
